Chair Battery and Maintenance
Wheel
chair battery...
A
wheelchair, whether it's motorized or manual,
requires routine maintenance and care to keep
it in its best condition... just like an automobile
or bicycle.
If
you have a wheel chair that's
battery powered , you should bring it in to be
checked by an authorized dealer once or twice
a year.
The
dealer can also check the status of your wheel
chair battery, which will likely have a battery-life
of 300 to 500 cycles (10-18 months).
On
a regular basis, you should inspect your manual
wheelchair
(or battery powered wheel chair by checking the
tires for proper inflation, checking the wheel
locks and checking to see if spokes are bent or
loose (if the wheels are spoked).
Also,
be sure to clean your wheel chair regularly to
prevent rust and tighten all nuts and bolts for
safety.
Here
are some tools you should have to keep your wheelchair
and wheel chair battery
safe and clean:
-
Spray cleaner or mild soap
-
a tire pump
-
screwdriver (flathead and phillips head)
- An
